   EHEDG CERTIFIED HYGIENIC PUMPS
   EHEDG HYGIENIC

To gain EHEDG certification, Blagdon's hygienic pump range was required to pass a stringent 'cleanability' test. This test was performed by an independent food research association. Conforming to the test procedure of the European Hygienic Equipment Design Group Test Methods Subgroup. The tests showed that Blagdon's Hygienic pump range has the ability to process foodstuffs in a totally hygienic manner. This confirms that every customer who purchases a Blagdon Hygienic pump knows that they can rely on it to work at the highest levels of cleanliness.

  TEST PROCEDURE
The Procedure for gaining EHEDG certification involves:
  • Running the pump for a given time period with product known to contain bacteria.
  • The pump is then put through a notional cleaning process.
  • The Pump is then filled with a substance called Agar which is normally red but turns yellow in the presence of bacteria.
  • A reference pipe known to contain bacteria is then also filled with Agar.
  • The Agar is then removed from the Pump and the reference pipe and inspected for yellow regions.
As expected the Agar in the reference pipe turned partially yellow (see picture below)

The contents of a reference pipe are used to confirm the presence of bacteria (yellow regions)

But the Agar in the Blagdon pumps was wholly red (see pictures below)

The contents of the Blagdon pump show no yellow area - confirming that no bacteria was present

The fluid on the Blagdon pumps diaphragm showed no yellow areas hence no bacteria

The contents of the Blagdon pumps diaphragm again show no yellow areas hence no bacteria
